Criminal Defense Investigations

Using a private investigator for criminal defense is quite common. The role of a private investigator varies by the type of crimes being alleged, and the needs of the case, but P.I.s generally perform the following tasks:

Collection of Information – First, we collect all information in the case. This includes a acopy of the initial statement from the suspect, a copy of all charging documents, a copy of any court registers, and contact information for attorneys in the case.

Collection of Initial Evidence – Next, we collect any evidence in the case not yet collected by law enforcement. This may include fingerprinting, photographing incident scenes, securing copies of security camera footage, copying text messages or call logs, etc.
Collection of Additional Defensive Evidence – Once we have a strong understanding of the case and the available evidence, we will work with the defense to formulate a plan on collecting any other evidence that may be helpful. This could include locating and interviewing witnesses, serving subpoenas, providing surveillance, etc.
Report Writing – Our findings will be put in a report - an unbiased 3rd party professional summary of the information in your case in a format preferred by the courts and other professionals involved in your case. This can be a crucial way to move your agenda forward. Convoluted events can be made simple and credible with a professional investigator’s report.

Testimony - Most cases are resolved in the first 4 steps. However, for those cases that do go to trial, we are courtroom ready. Our investigators have hundreds of hours of experience testifying in court.
